ISBA Catering Conference 2016

This year, allmanhall were delighted to accept their invitation to present to the attendees of the ISBA’s third annual Catering Conference on the subject of budgets and benchmarking. The session, entitled “A Recipe for Financial Success… Managing Costs and Beating Budgets” outlined the key areas for independent schools to consider each year, and the importance of benchmarking spend on a regular basis.

Prior to the event, analysis was conducted on Baked Beans, and you can read the highlights on our blog post here.

Hayden Hibbert and Paula Harsley attended on behalf of allmanhall. The event took place on the 24th February 2016 in the stunning surroundings of BMA’s Great Hall for the breakout session. Over 150 delegates attended; around 50 of which attended the talk held by Paula and Hayden. The attendees involved a good mix of Bursars and Catering Managers, plus catering staff from some sites. As allmanhall understand independent schools, and as such, our association with the ISBA is an important one to us, and them.

One of the highlights for Hayden and Paula was the inspirational keynote speech given by Ian Rose – the winner of 2 Paralympic, 5 Word Championship and 9 European Championship medals – and one of GB’s most successful Judoka. He was also a Torchbearer and Opening Ceremony performer at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

For our breakout session, Paula and Hayden were introduced by Janine Brooks, Business Director. We do hope the presentation was useful to all of those who attended.

Our thanks to Paul Simpson, ISBA Professional Development Director, who oversaw the organising of the event and also opened and closed the day. Both Paula and Hayden agree that it was a wonderful day with comments from clients including “useful”, “informative”, plus “it was great to have the opportunity to recommend allmanhall to others”.

Finally, we’re currently looking forward to the next ISBA event: we will be at the ISBA Annual Conference in Edinburgh in May (stand no. 103) and we hope to see you there!
